What’s Your Dream?
Today marks the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream speech in Washington, DC. PB gave an excellent sermon on Sunday asking us each to examine what or who our Babylon is. In other words, what is it that causes you to sin or to be pulled away from God? This is such an important question. For Dr. King, Babylon was the institutions and beliefs that make us judge each other by the color of our skin.
But today we think about Dr. King’s dream. And today, I would like to ask you to think about what your dream is. I wonder if dreams are gifts or callings of the Holy Spirit. I wonder if God gives us little nudges about how we can make this world, or our family, or our neighborhood just a little bit better than the way we found it. Has there been a thought you can’t let go of? Has there always been something you have sort of felt like you should be doing? Is there an idea you have always had but never done anything about? Maybe that is your dream. And maybe that thought or idea or feeling is a gift you have been given by the Spirit. What is your dream? And what are you going to do about it?
