Grief Lessons: A Six-Week Series at SLC
Wednesdays from 5:30pm-6:45pm | January 7-February 11, 2026
Facilitated by Sandy Gessner-Crabtree
Grief touches every life. Whether you are carrying a fresh sorrow, an old wound, a quiet ache, or a loss that others may not recognize, you are not alone. This six-week series, Grief Lessons, creates a gentle space to explore the many ways grief shapes us--emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.
Together, we will look at what social science teaches about grief and what Scripture reveals about God’s presence with the brokenhearted. We’ll also reflect on the wide range of emotions that accompany loss and consider what lessons grief may offer for our everyday living.
Each session includes time for learning, quiet reflection, small-group conversation, and simple practices such as prayer, candle-lighting or music. Whether your grief comes from the death of a loved one, a change in health, loss of community, shifting identity, or any other transition, your story is welcome here.
Who should attend? Anyone who is experiencing grief of any kind. If you have very recently experienced a traumatic loss, please speak with Pastor Bill if you are uncertain if this series is for you.
What to expect:
- A 75-minute gathering with prayer, reflection, and shared learning
- No pressure to share--speak as you feel comfortable
- Space for tears, silence, laughter, and everything in between
- A compassionate, confidential environment
Why join? Because grief is not something we “get over.” It is something we learn to live with--gently, honestly, and with support. And when we explore grief in community, we often find strength, insight, and the steady presence of God.
