What is Holy Yoga?
Holy Yoga is the intentional practice of connecting our entire being, body, mind and spirit with God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. With complete reliance on God’s Word and prayer, Holy Yoga invites us to surrender and introduces us to Grace. When we breathe and move and have our being in Christ, we find ourselves in the flow of His magnificence.
Holy Yoga is experiential worship created to deepen people’s connection to Christ. Our sole purpose is to facilitate a Christ-honoring experience that offers an opportunity to believers and non-believers alike to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship, and wellness. Holy Yoga exists to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth through the modality of yoga.
Here at Silverdale Lutheran, we offer a Gentle Holy Yoga Class on Wednesday and Friday mornings 9:30-10:30 am, at “The Gathering Place.” Our classes are for ALL Levels and ALL bodies, whether you are a seasoned yogi or new to yoga…this is a Grace-filled and Christ-Centered Integration of Movement and Meditation. Mats, Blocks, Straps are provided if needed. A recommended $10 donation is suggested.
Do I Need A Mat?
If you have a mat (and other props you use in your practice), please bring it. If not, I will have extra mats that you are welcome to use.
What Should I Wear?
Please wear clothing that is comfortable to move in. Generally, yoga/ workout pants or non-restrictive clothing is appropriate if you’re not sure what to wear.
Where Are Classes?
Classes are held at Silverdale Lutheran Church:
Classes are held in the Gathering Place. If you are facing the church, this room is in the building to your right, though the double doors.
What If I Have Special Concerns?
I will ask everyone to sign a waiver at your first class. It is a standard waiver stating you understand there are risks involved with movement-classes. I of course always seek to instruct participants in the safest manner possible. The waiver also gives you a chance to explain any medical conditions, injuries, or concerns you might have. This is very useful to me so I can better accommodate you and give you instructions specific to your concerns. I am always available after class to further discuss any concerns you have.
What If I Can’t Get Up And Down From The Ground?
If you can breathe, you can still do yoga! Your practice might not look like your neighbor’s practice, but that’s okay. The more comfortable you become with the movement and material, the better you will be able to modify the movement to fit your needs. If you are concerned about getting up and down off the ground (or with balance), there will be chairs available. For the seated portions of the class, you will be able to do most everything on the chair.
